Tim Lindsey, Global Director of Sustainable Development; Caterpillar Inc.

Tim Lindsey joined Caterpillar Inc. in February of 2012 to lead enterprise efforts to build a culture of sustainable development. His team focuses on integrating sustainability principles into all internal business units as well as Caterpillar's many suppliers, dealers, and customers. He is an accomplished program and project manager with experience in multiple industrial sectors, including: energy, mining, machining, metal finishing, die-casting, electronics, agriculture, food processing, biofuels, and chemical processing.
Prior to joining Caterpillar, Mr. Lindsey spent 20 years at the University of Illinois leading a wide range of research, education and outreach initiatives focused on improving business sustainability. He and his staff helped hundreds of organizations improve their processes, products, and systems through the development and implementation of innovations that reduce their utilization of energy, materials, water, and land. He also worked for ExxonMobil at a Powder River Basin coal mine where he held various positions, including: Environmental Engineer, Safety Director and Senior Project Manager.
Mr. Lindsey is a nationally recognized expert regarding change management and implementation of innovative sustainability practices. He holds both Bachelor of Science and Mater of Science degrees in Environmental Engineering from Southern Illinois University and a Doctorate in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Illinois.
